Homemade food gifts are always treasured for their thoughtfulness. We suggest giving this herb-infused vinegar to friends with a list of serving suggestions. Here are a few of our favorites: whisk with olive oil to make a dressing, drizzle on onions that are caramelizing in the pan or toss with sliced cucumbers and red onions for a simple pickle.
Essential oils are easily incorporated or substituted into recipes, and will give your dishes that little “something” extra for a delicious unique taste with all the wellness benefits!
[li]2 cups wine, rice, or cider vinegar[/li]
[li]Vitality oils (such as oregano, basil, rosemary, lemon, or thyme)[/li]
[li]Fresh herb sprigs (optional)[/li]
[li]1 small, whole fresh chiles (optional)[/li]
[li]1 clove garlic (optional)[/li]
Put vinegar and add 4-5 drops of Vitality oils into a jar, seal with a tight-fitting lid, and set aside to let infuse until flavors blend, 5 to 6 days. Strain vinegar through a fine mesh sieve into a decorative bottle or mason jar and add the additional herb sprigs. Add a couple of fresh chiles or garlic cloves, if you like. Tie on a hand-written card with serving suggestions around the neck of the bottle. Store in the refrigerator.
Yields 2 cups.
